Fundamental Design Goals
When examined carefully, these requirements translate into four fundamental network design goals:
Scalability: We build scalable network designs that grow to include new user groups, remote sites, new applications...without impacting the level of service delivered to existing users.
Availability: Our network designs delivers consistent, reliable performance, 24/7/365. The failure of a single link or piece of equipment will not significantly impact network performance because we build redundant systems into the network.
Security: Security is planned & designed into the network from the start. It includes planning the location of security devices, filters, and firewall features critical to safeguarding network resources.
Manageability: We provide an industry-standard design that any experienced network administrator can manage and support. A network design that is too complex or difficult to maintain cannot function effectively and efficiently.
Network Performance Monitoring
When it comes to in-depth open source network monitoring tools, our engineers custom-configure a Nagios & Cacti solution. Nagios monitors networks for problems caused by overloaded data links or network connections, as well as monitoring routers, switches and more. Nagios also monitors availability, uptime and response time of every node on the network.
We also utilize Nagios/Cacti to monitor virtual servers - a pre-warning system in case of downtime - to avoid the monthly fees associated with monitoring servers versus a one-time configuration fee. Nagios can deliver the results in a variety of visual representations and reports.
